Verification Guide

Some of the tickets available on our Southern Vectis mobile app require verification to prove your eligibility for those tickets before you can use them. These include our Child (5-16), Young Adult (17-18) and Student tickets.

How does it work?

To activate and use any Child (5-16), Young Adult (17 -18) or Student ticket, you'll first need to buy the ticket or a parent or carer can do this for you.  Then you will need to verify your age or student status. You only have to do this once for each type of ticket (i.e. Child, Young Adult (17-18) or Student).

Please note: after purchasing your ticket and completing the verification process, you will need to wait to be verified. This can take up to 24 hours but is normally done within a few hours.

Getting verified is easy.

  1. Buy a ticket, or a parent/carer can buy a ticket for you and email it to your app account
  2. Upload a selfie or a head and shoulders shot from your photo library
  3. Upload a photo of your ID.

We accept the following types of ID for Under 16s and Young Persons (17 to 18):

  • Passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • Driving Licence

We accept the following types of ID for Students:

  • NUS Card (unexpired)

You'll receive instruction on how to upload your ID via email.

Verifications are usually approved within 24 hours and can often be much quicker than that.

Photos: We use your photo to verify your ID and show it on your ticket so the driver can verify it is you.  You won't be able to change your photo after it's been verified.
