Working with the community
At Southern Vectis, we’re proud to support our local community. As well as providing regular and sustainable bus services connecting the Isle of Wight, we also see it as our responsibility to support and connect our Island communities, charities and valuable causes.
We take greener travel and preservation of the Island seriously, regularly updating our fleet with new greener and cleaner innovations and spreading the word about the benefits of bus travel on air pollution and the environment.
Together we are a small but strong Island community doing big things, and as a company we understand that to make things happen, local groups and charities need our support.
We’re also keen supporters of local events that make our Island a unique and vibrant place to live, bringing the community together.
Charity of the year
Every year, our colleagues nominate and elect a charity of the year to throw our support behind. Our colleagues take part in various fundraising activities across the year to help raise funds for our nominated charity of the year.
Our good cause for 2022 and 2023 was The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary The Wildheart Trust is a registered charity that is dedicated to realizing its global ambitions. These are principally to make a meaningful impact on the health of the natural world while actively improving the well-being of animals in human care. The Trust runs the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary and provides governance for its conservation aims.
The Southern Vectis Community Fund
Our Community Fund is our dedicated resource for supporting local causes, charities and organisations, whether it is monetary support, marketing help, free travel or the use of a bus/coach for an event required. Each May and November, we take in applications for support and our judging panel decides how that support will be split.
