Regular Network Buses during the Isle of Wight Festival

The Isle of Wight Festival is taking place from Thursday the 15th - Sunday 18th June. If you are traveling to the Festival our Festival page has all the information you need. Below is key information for those not attending the Festival but still need to use the bus.

  1. We add additional resource into the network during the festival to help move the significant increase in passengers that we experience.

  1. Despite our best efforts, there will inevitably be delays to all routes operating in/out of Newport throughout festival, but we expect the worse delays to be early to late afternoons – we would advise customer to plan-ahead using our app/website for all days of the festival and consider leaving additional time for their journeys. You can also track buses in real time in the app.

  1. Change to route 9 between 11am until 6pm on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Festival; it will operate solely via Staplers, and not via Fairlee or the Festival site during these times, in order to maintain reliability. The special 9f route will operate between Ryde town and the festival during these times (Route 9F Timetable), and customers heading to festival should use these rather than risk missing a regular service bus that might be full.

Customers for stops along the Fairlee section of route that the regular route 9 is not serving are advised as follows:

  • For stops along Lushington Hill between Racecourse roundabout and Wootton Cedars, customer should use route 4 to Wootton Cedars and connect there for the route 9 via Staplers
  • For customers between Racecourse roundabout and Seaclose/Fairlee should use route 5 and connect to route 9 at Newport bus station

  1. Route 5 will divert via Staplers when operating from Newport to East Cowes due to the one-way system in-place on Fairlee Road.

  1. Routes 2, 3, and 8 are likely to be extremely busy between 11.00 and 16.00 towards Newport; we have added even more special direct buses from Sandown/Shanklin to festival this year, and customers heading to festival should use these rather than risk missing a regular service bus that might be full.

We thank all our customers for your patience during the Isle of Wight Festival and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
