Isle of Wight Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme
6 months ago

We are proud to be part of the Isle of Wight Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme. Public Health Isle of Wight launched a Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme with support from The Breastfeeding Network to encourage more businesses and organisations across the island to support nursing mothers.
The Southern Vectis team received educational training which explained how we can support nursing mothers on the Southern Vectis Network. We hope it helps mothers feel at ease about feeding on our buses.
Nadia Wakeford, Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme Administrator said "The more stickers we get out there and the more businesses that join helps normalizes the conversation about breastfeeding in public. It's also really important for us to support the mother's mental health, as cutting of social contacts, or going out in public because you are ashamed of feeding shouldn't be something anyone is experiencing.
You will see the Breastfeeding icon across our network on our buses and in our travel shops if you ever need assistance please speak to our of the team and we will always be happy to help.
