Southern Vectis is looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to join our School Transport Team as SEN Passenger Assistants.
This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) whilst travelling safely between home and school. As a Passenger Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring passengers feel safe, supported and comfortable throughout their journey.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting children and young people during their journey to and from school
- Assisting passengers with a range of additional needs
- Promoting a safe, calm and positive travelling environment
- Working closely with drivers, schools, parents and carers
- Managing situations professionally and confidently when required
What we're looking for:
- A caring, patient and compassionate approach
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and punctuality
- Confidence working with children and young people
- An understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
- The ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
Previous experience working with children, education, care or support services would be beneficial, but full training will be provided.
Wage, hours and location:
- Location: Newport or Ryde, Isle of Wight
- Hours: 20 hours per week (school term time only)
- Salary: £11,658 per annum
Working Pattern:
The role consists of school transport journeys in the morning and afternoon, Monday to Friday during school term time only, making it an ideal position for anyone seeking part-time hours that fit around other commitments.
