Get there on the Needles Breezer (seasonal service)!
The Needles Old Battery is a Victorian fort cared for by the National Trust. Set high on the cliff top, its parade ground offers spectacular views of the Needles - the closest you can get to the Needles from land. Admission charges apply. The Old Battery also has a tea room, widely loved for its stunning outlook and one of the best views across to the Needles.
The bus turns around at the Needles New Battery, where an exhibition is housed in the underground rooms, exploring the site’s role in secret static rocket tests during the 1950s and 1960s. When open, admission to the New Battery is free.
Regular expert-led tours of both the Old and New Battery run throughout the season, offering visitors the chance to discover more about the site’s fascinating history.
The surrounding Needles Headland, also cared for by the National Trust, is an ideal place for a walk or simply to sit and enjoy the views.
