Wroxall SGN Gas Replacement Works, Travel Information

UPDATE as of Friday 19th March 2021 - the road has now reopened and all routes operating as normal.
Routes affected: 3
Commencing Monday 18th January, SGN are carrying out safety-critical work to upgrade the gas network in St John’s Road in Wroxall, Ventnor. This closure is expected to be in place for approximately 10 weeks. St John’s Road will be closed for the whole duration, along with Redhill Lane at its junction with Appuldurcombe Road.
During this time route 3 will divert from Godshill via Whitwell to Ventnor, and customers wishing to travel to Wroxall should change at Albert Street in Ventnor connecting with a shuttle bus which will follow the standard 3 route to terminate in Wroxall at the junction of Station Road & St Martins Road.
Customers in Upper Ventnor can use route 3 to/from Ocean View Road, a short walk away, or use the shuttle bus to go into Ventnor for onward travel.
The following bus stops will not be served on any journeys:
- St Johns Road
- Donkey Sanctuary
Customers using route 3 from stops between Whiteley Bank and Godshill Griffin should use route 2 instead.
Customers using route 3 from Godshill School should use either route 2 from Godshill School or route 3 from Jubilee Close stops in West Street.

|73||The 73 AM journey will depart 5 minutes earlier at 0725 and then divert from Whiteley Bank (0742) via Shanklin and Upper Bonchurch to school|
|Students who catch Route 3 at 0740/0805/0835 from Newport should continue to do so, all of these buses will be met at Whitwell Chapel by a special school service numbered 273 to take students direct to school from there to avoid students going via Ventnor and having to use the public shuttle bus|
|In the afternoon, students are requested NOT to use Route 3 journeys towards Newport if they finish school at 1405 / 1435 - special extra route 73 journeys will operate to Whiteley Bank, Godshill, Rookley and Newport. Students finishing school at 1535 should either use the public shuttle bus to Ventnor and change buses for route 3 to Newport, or walk to Ocean View Road for route 3 to Newport, or wait for the route 73 at 1618 to Newport|

|71||The Route 71 AM & PM journeys will operate as normal|
|72||Both Route 72 AM journeys will operate as normal but divert from Shanklin via Upper Bonchurch to school|
|73||Students who catch Route 3 at 0700 from Ryde should continue to do so, and this journey will be met at Ventnor Trinity Church by Route 73 at 0759 to take students direct to school from there to avoid students overloading the public shuttle bus|
|Students who catch Route 3 at 0740 or 0815 from Ryde should continue to do so, and will need to change at Ventnor Albert Street onto the public shuttle bus to reach the school as there is no special provision available for these journeys|
|72||In the afternoon, students leaving school at 1405 / 1535 are requested NOT to use Route 3 journeys towards Shanklin / Sandown / Brading Ryde – all students should use Route 72 journeys. Students leaving school at 1435 are requested NOT to use Route 3 journeys towards Shanklin / Sandown / Brading Ryde – they should use Route 72 journey to get to Shanklin / Sandown, and change buses at Sandown Victoria Road for points towards Brading and Ryde if required|

|Students who use Routes 3, 72 or 73 to get to and from school should use the public route 3 shuttle bus at all times|

|73||Students who use Routes 3, 72 or 73 to get to and from school should use route 73 NB that students in the morning have only got the one option to catch to school which is the 73 at 0742.|
|Going home there are 3x Route 73 journeys operating at 1405, 1435 and 1618 all via Whiteley Bank and Sandford, but there is no 1535 journey from school – those students would have to wait for the 1618 journey.|
