The Old Girl, as she is affectionately known, is available to transport you and/or your guests to and from their accommodation to the wedding venue and on to the reception venue. Tailored to meet your individual requirements, our service will ensure that everyone is in the right place at the right time – with a touch of class that modern vehicles simply cannot provide – and all your guests can enjoy that extra glass of champagne!
The Old Girl was purchased new in 1939 and has remained with Southern Vectis ever since. Her working life began on the Ryde to Cowes route, taking workers to and from the shipyards during the Second World War. Since then, the bus has seen a number of modifications, including having her roof removed in 1959.
For many years, she worked on the steep Needles Tour, and she is still occasionally used today on the Downs and Sandown Bay tours. Having clocked up nearly 800,000 miles during her working life, she is reputed to be the longest serving bus in the UK still in operation with her original owner.
The bus has 56 seats – 30 on the upper deck and 26 in the lower saloon.
