Shanklin roadtrain

Our Shanklin roadtrain runs from Shanklin rail station, along the Esplanade and through Shanklin Old Village.

You can get on and off at any stops showing the roadtrain sign. They're at regular intervals all along the route, so you're never far from one. Raise your arm in plenty of time so the driver can see you, and just take a seat.

attractions

Shanklin Esplanade Golf

Here, at the eastern end of Shanklin Esplanade you can find this 18-hole crazy golf course and an 18-hole putting green.

Shanklin Chine

Wander down through this tranquil gorge. You are in a magic world of natural beauty, a rich haven of rare plants, exotic woodland, wildlife and an enchanting waterfall. The word chine is of Saxon origin and means a deep narrow ravine, formed by water cutting through soft sandstone leading to the sea. It drops 105ft in just over a quarter of a mile, and there is an exhibition to see that explains much more about this magic place.

Shanklin Old Village

Justly popular, Shanklin old village is picture postcard pretty with its narrow High Street lined with thatched cottages and shops.
Here you’ll find some great teashops, pubs and restaurants.
