We all know we should think about using our cars less, especially for journeys where there's a viable alternative. Now, with so many frequent bus services all over the island, increasingly you’ll find there is a very convenient alternative, as more and more of you keep discovering.

Using the bus can help alleviate congestion, reduce harmful emissions and help make the island a nicer environment for everyone. Did you know that even a half full bus is considerably more fuel-efficient than a car with just a driver in it? And, per person, it takes up a fraction of the road space. Travelling by bus is a readily accessible, socially inclusive form of transport.

Our newest buses used on route 9 between Ryde and Newport are really emission-busting machines, with the very latest “Euro 5” engines. We could bamboozle you with loads of science here, but suffice to say that what comes out of the back is so clean you can put a white handkerchief over the exhaust pipe and it will stay white!
