Only one is left of 36 bought new and second-hand between 1987 and 1997. Nos. 045, 047 and 246 were new in 1997, nos. 260 and 263 second-hand in 2001. Nos. 260, 263 and 246 have been fitted with seatbelts for use on a primary school bus service. In 2007 these three were repainted into the new two-tone-green bus livery. Nos. 045 and 047 were converted for mobile event-ticket selling and liveried for Isle of Wight Radio to support local events for Southern Vectis, IOW Radio and the Hospice.

There are four types of Darts. Six with UVG bodies were new in 1996 in the old mushroom and green livery, and were the first single deck buses bought with fully automatic gearboxes. They were allocated to run the JetLink service from Cowes to Sandown and Ventnor. In 2002 a new Plaxton Mini Pointer Dart (MPD) was the first bus to feature a low floor/kneeling entrance, public address system, CCTV and LED destination displays. It was in a blue livery. A further 14 were delivered in 2005, painted lime green with a triangle pattern, and had a similar specification. In 2006 another two came into the fleet from Solent Blueline. At the moment these are being repainted into the new two-tone-green bus livery, and when completed each is being named.

These high-specification, low-floor buses were delivered in June 2007, bought specifically for route 9 between Newport and Ryde. They are the only buses on the fleet with air-conditioning. They have Euro 5 engines, which currently emit the lowest carbon levels possible for a diesel fuelled vehicle, and are several years ahead of legislative requirements. The Citaros are also the longest ever Southern Vectis single deck bus, at 12 metres.
