Leyland Olympians
12 of the original 16 Leyland bodied Leyland Olympians, bought between 1989 and 1990, still remain in service. A further batch of nine Northern Counties bodied Olympians were bought in 1993 of which seven are left. The Leyland bodied ones were equipped with coach style seating. Apart from the Old Girl and the three Bristol VRTs, these vehicles are the longest serving buses in the fleet, attributed in part to the reliability of their Cummins L10 engines. Nos. 742 and 743 were converted to open top buses in 2004, originally painted in the orange/yellow sunburst open top livery, repainted into the blue and orange Island Breezer branding in 2007. The other 10 now carry the new two-tone-green bus livery, some with overall rear advertising for the Isle of Wight Festival, Walking Festival and Route 9 “now every 10 minutes”.

Volvo Olympians
Two batches of the Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympians were bought new - seven in 1995 and eight in 1998. There were minor differences to the bodywork, driver’s cab layout and the seating style between the batches. They have all served in a variety of liveries and latterly in the Explorer blue until the major rebranding to the new two-tone-green bus livery from early 2006. Four Volvo Olympians were delivered new to our sister company, Solent Blueline, in 1998, and were transferred to Southern Vectis for conversion to open-top. Once converted, they were refurbished and repainted into the Island Breezer livery.

Volvo B7TL
The seven B7TLs bought in 2002 carry Plaxton President bodies, and were originally painted in the Explorer blue livery. They are low floor, with CCTV, digital destination displays all round, Keil seating (the first operator in the country to have this high spec product) and bonded glazing. The driver's cab has a multitude of driving aids, and the dash and steering column can be altered to suit individual driving positions. These buses have the largest carrying capacity of all the double decks operated. During 2005 they were the first buses to be repainted in the new two-tone-green bus livery, and were given names, displayed on the front of each bus.
