Our coaches’ primary role is to transport local students to Island schools and IW College. In addition, we operate a daily service to Brockenhurst College in the New Forest, which involves the vehicle crossing on the Wightlink ferry.
Apart from school runs, coaches are used on a series of contracts and undertake private hire work, especially for local schools. At weekends they can often be seen on the mainland undertaking rail replacement services. Coaches 597 and 511 are also used for driver training.
Coaches are run under the names of three well known coaching companies acquired by Southern Vectis over the years. Those carrying the Fountain Coaches name are painted bright orange; West Wight coaches are raspberry and grey; and those named Moss Motor Tours are presented in a blue colour scheme.
The main types are Volvo B10Ms and a variety of DAF chassis, along with a Bova and two mini coaches, one a Mercedes and the other a Toyota. Bodywork varies, including products from Plaxton, Ikarus, Van Hool, Bova and Caetano.
