If you like sailing (or just like socialising) then Skandia Cowes Week is the place to be. Over 1000 yachts take part in the longest running annual regatta in the world, which this year is being held between 2 and 9 August.
Skandia Cowes Week is not all about sailing, however. Since it started in 1826, with only 7 yachts taking part, Cowes week has also become a big part of the social calendar, with the yacht clubs around Cowes hosting balls, cocktail parties, and dinners, with up to 3,000 spectators sampling the atmosphere at the Cowes Yacht Haven, affectionately called the Cowes Marina.
For further details about events please visit www.skandiacowesweek.co.uk
During Cowes Week buses will only pick up/drop off at Cowes Pontoon/Red Jet Terminal until 10am each day. After 10am buses will only stop in Carvel Lane.
Buses run from Newport to Cowes up to every 6 minutes during the daytime (Monday – Saturday) and every 15 minutes in the evenings and all day Sunday.
We are also running a special Cowes Week shuttle from Yarmouth bus station direct to Cowes. A return ticket is £7 and can be purchased on the bus or from Wightlink at Yarmouth. Timetables will be available nearer the start of the event.
On Friday 8 August, the Cowes Fireworks Night, we will be running some extra buses in the evening. There may be long queues, so please be patient.
See our route list section for more information to plan your trip to see the sailing.
