Set in a very tranquil location this is a superb beach for swimming from, with some lovely sand dunes. There are fantastic views of shipping using the Solent, and Bembridge harbour, with its colourful house boats lining the shore. This is a magical place steeped in history, as you walk around the western shores of the harbour you will see a line of beach huts these are, in fact old railway carriages.

They started life with the Metropolitan Railway before being sold to the Isle of Wight Railway; they have been used as beach huts since 1926.
An unexpected bonus is great variety of birds and wildlife, and there is a lovely café for refreshments. Since 1997 St Helens has been flying the Seaside Award Flag and now displays a Water Quality Award.
