The beach is a mix of pebbles, shingle and sand, which is popular with locals and tourists alike, although it has quite a steep slope, it is nevertheless a safe beach from which to swim. It is surrounded by majestic cliffs towering above the sea, with many small boats bobbing around their moorings. When the sea does get rough you will see many surfers waiting to catch a set, out at the entrance to the Bay.

Prominent on the little Esplanade is the RNLI lifeboat house; volunteer crews attend an average of 30 shouts per year. There are toilets and cafes near at hand, making this a great day out for the whole family.
