Southern Vectis is offering an extra special gift this month - by unveiling 16 new buses for the Isle of Wight.
The bus operator has made a significant investment in the British-built ADL Enviro 400 MMC vehicles, and will run them primarily across its routes two and three.
“We are incredibly proud of our new vehicles. And this is good news for both commuters and leisure passengers wishing to travel across the island,” said Richard Tyldsley, general manager of Southern Vectis.
“Customers here have been very clear about the enhancements they want to see on this popular service and we have listened to them. On-board technology includes USB charging points for smartphones and hand-held devices.
“All of our new vehicles are also greener than ever - with Euro 6 engines, helping to reduce harmful emissions.
“In fact, we have invested more than £3.7M in these buses for our two and three routes - and we’re looking forward to seeing them out and about, transporting those who use this service whilst living on or visiting the Isle of Wight.”
Richard was joined at Tapnell Farm Park for the launch of the new buses by Cllr Ian Ward.
