We're holding a special event in Newport this month, aimed at our concessionary bus pass users.
We invite our passengers with a concessionary pass to join us on Tuesday 30th January between 10am and 2pm, as we get together to highlight the importance of concessionary travel - not just to those who use it but also to the local economy.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming those who use concessionary passes, whether they be elderly, disabled or the New Islander cards, to Newport Bus station on Tuesday,” said Southern Vectis general manager, Richard Tyldsley.
“We’ll be offering complementary tea and coffee and some special giveaways - and those who wish to can also accompany us on a special ‘one-off’ bus trip to see some of the island’s best sights.
“For many, concessionary bus travel is vital in helping them go about their daily lives. Getting out-and-about to do shopping, go to the doctors, or to enjoy this beautiful isle is a real challenge for elderly and disabled people who don’t have access to their own means of transport. Many tell us their bus passes offer them a real lifeline.
‘Our team is interested to find out, first-hand, how our customers have been helped by having easy access to local buses. Concessionary travel is also important to local businesses - providing them with more visitors and customers than they might otherwise have. So, this event is about highlighting the entire package.”
The Southern Vectis team will be at Newport Bus Station between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday 30 January - we hope to see you there.
